International Law Threatens Home Schooling Warns Home School Legal Defense

I love this little gem:

Farris explains that, in 1995, "the United Kingdom was deemed out of compliance" with the Convention "because it allowed parents to remove their children from public school sex-education classes without consulting the child". Farris argues that, "by the same reasoning, parents would be denied the ability to homeschool their children unless the government first talked with their children and the government decided what was best. This committee would even have the right to determine what religious teaching, if any, served the child's best interest."

Hello!?!?!?!? Soviet Union anybody? This is classice socialism. The child is the property of the state, not the parents. What a load of malarky.

Let me ask you all a question. This topic goes way beyond your right to homeschool. It is your rights with your children! How far are you willing to go to fight this and other liberal, radical (read: COMPLETELY WRONG) ideas which are being forced on us all? Are you going to allow them to take your kids and then try to fight them in court (here's a good website devoted to that: Homeschooling Legal Defense Association)? Or are you willing to do more? I'll tell you one thing...it will be a cold day in Hell before someone tells me we can't homeschool our kids, teach them Christian values, etc.

My face is hot and I can feel my blood pressure rising.

Jason and I are willing and prepared to fight against this. We've talked about it several times. We will go live in a cave in the mountains somewhere before we allow someone else to tell us we can't raise our children with Christian values because it's not good for them.

I believe that cold day in hell is coming sooner than we think.

It'll be up to all of us to decide how far we're willing to fight it. Yes, you can fight it in court, but legal battles sometimes take years. What will happen with your kids during those years if the government decides what they can and can't be taught and that they can't be homeschooled.

I know the living in a cave in the mountain thing is a little out there, and I intended for it to be. But seriously, we are willing to go as far as we have to go to prevent this. We will not allow ANYONE to keep us from teaching our children about the Jesus who loves them.

The Homeschooling Legal Defense Association: everyone who homeschools should be a member. You might need them one day.
